Huntsville YLC

Contributing & Contributors

Youth are the country's future leadership and their appreciation and commitment to the values upon which our country was founded needs to be nurtured beyond current awareness. Since 1985, MOWW has promoted awareness of leadership, American heritage and patriotism and free enterprise among young achievers through a nationwide set of Youth Leadership Conferences (YLCs).  These conferences expose these future leaders to this focus from the perspective of people who have gained knowledge and insight beyond the classroom – in industry, military service or Government.  In addition to the stated focus, the Huntsville YLC includes Space Camp’s 1-day Aviation Challenge Program, a mock trial, and has student staff trained and leading the conference.

MOWW YLCs, developed and implemented by volunteers serving without compensation to support the MOWW Patriotic Education Program, are provided for through IRS qualified 501c(3) not-for-profit foundations.  Through our chapter’s foundation, which is funded by local contributions and contract sponsorships for the Huntsville YLC, Huntsville had its first 1-day YLC in October 2003 and has had a 3.5 -day YLC each year since. Last year 95 students participated in the 6th Annual YLC -- 17 YLC graduates who served as the conference leaders, and 78 first-time students (69 students from 27 high schools and home school associations in North Alabama and 13 students under separate sponsorship from out of state).  We are expecting the same level of participation this year.

The foundation for the Huntsville YLC is the Huntsville Alabama MOWW Patriotic Education Foundation, Inc.  It is a qualified 501c(3) organization under IRS regulations and holds the required license as a tax-exempt organization. Contributions to the foundation are fully deductible in accordance with applicable laws, statutes, rules and regulations.

To sponsor a student or group of students or otherwise contribute, please contact our any our contacts listed on the YLC Application webpage.  Local contributions are used to provide student slots for North Alabama high schools based on the number of schools and relative student population of the schools.
