First-Time Students
|
Participants are academic
achievers selected by their sponsors as students meeting the YLC eligibility
criteria. They gain a
understanding of leadership, our nation’s heritage, patriotism and the free
enterprise system under which our nation has developed. Each day is packed with team activity and
thought-provoking presentations from achievers in government, industry, and military
adding a dimension of understanding beyond the formal classroom. Participants will interact with our
presenters, work on team projects, and get a taste of aviation via Space
Camp's Aviation Challenge Course. Eventually the nation will be
in your hands, and we are counting on your to steer or help steer its course

Student Staff/Cadre (Graduates of a Previous
YLC) The YLC is an opportunity for YLC
graduates to practice leadership toward becoming a leader who can successfuly steer the course of the nation, a business,
or an organization. Students returning
to serve as YLC student staff gain a stronger understanding and skillset of
leadership than participating in the from their previous YLC participation. YLC graduates are selected to
return as student staff by the MOWW Huntsville Chapter based on their
application and YLC eligibility criteria, which includes continued performance
academically and community involvement. Applications are downloadable
from the Application page after March and can be submitted thereafter. From applications received pre-summer
break, students will be selected to fill some staff positions and to influence
planning for the YLC. Remaining positions will be
filled by the first 1st
week of September, when staff primary focus becomes training of the staff to
implement the planned YLC and development and delivery of introductory presentations
by staff. By the fill date, school commitments and student
availability are known and, if needed, position assignments altered, YLC
graduates can get on a notification list of application availability by letter
or e-mail to our YLC Director or other contact on the Application page. By July, some of you requesting
consideration will be approached to fill staff positions based on decision by
the Huntsville Chapter. |
